Gold Extraction Method--3. Cyanidation

3. Cyanidation
Since 1887, cyanidation was used in mining for gold and silver extraction and the technology is mature now. Because of its high recovery rate, good adaptability for minerals and on-site gold extraction, the cyanidation method is still one of the main gold production method. The cyanide method can be mixing cyanide and percolation cyanide. Mixing cyanide is for the processing of tailings after gravity separation and amalgamation or the gold-bearing concentrate after flotation, or used for all slime cyanidation; however the percolation cyanide is for the processing of flotation tailings and low-grade gold-bearing ore heap leaching. The conventional cyanidation is a very mature technology, including the preparation of the leaching raw materials; mixing cyanide leaching; the countercurrent washing the solid-liquid separation; leaching solution purification and deoxy; zinc replacement and pickling and melting ingot.

a. Leaching raw material preparation: the crude ore is usually made into cyanide leaching slurry by crushing, grinding (or ore dressing). The grinding fineness is decided by the native gold inlay features. For auriferous quartz vein ore, it is generally ground to 60 to 70% -200 mesh; for sulfide minerals of gold-bearing ore, it adopts flotation enrichment and the concentrate is reground to 90 ~ 95% -325 mesh; for ore containing high arsenic or pyrrhotite, roasting flotation concentrate removing sulfur and arsenic, calcines and cyanide; Additionally, there are high carbon-containing ore that interferes cyanide leaching.
