A Gravity-Flotation Beneficiation Case for Low-Grade Sulfide Copper Ore in the Philippines
The flotation is a commonly used beneficiation method for copper ore beneficiation and purification, but for some low-grade copper ore beneficiation, flotation method needs high investment in equipment, but small profit, therefore it need to design a more appropriate beneficiation process according to the specific nature of the ore.
Faure Machinery Factory have designed a low-grade sulfide copper ore beneficiation process and provides a full set of processing equipment for Philippines customers. Here we are going to make a brief introduction to the low-grade sulfide copper ore beneficiation process.
First, let's look at a picture of typical copper ore. It shows the sulfide copper ore disseminated structure, in which the copper sulfide crystal is coarse and there is clear boundary between copper and gangue.
In order to verify the applicability of gravity separation for such coarse-grained disseminated sulfide copper, we carried out a small sulphide copper ore beneficiation tests and obtained results shows in the following picture.
From the test results, we know that the gravity separatio is very suitable for the copper ore beneficiation, plays an important role for the next flotation process.
The gravity separation is a roughing enrichment process. We need to improve the copper grade for the next flotation based on high recovry rate. After gravity separation and enrichment, the number of coase concentrate is only 1/10 of the copper ore. So the subsequent flotation equipment investment will be greatly reduced, flotation costs will be also greatly reduced. The picture below is the 1500 tons copper ore gravity-flotation production line built by Forui Machinery for customers in the Philippines.
