Magnetic Preselection of Nickel-Iron Slag
There are high nickel alloys and low nickel alloys in the nickel-iron slag, the former is with low magnetic permeability while the latter has high permeability. Therefore, the washing method and equipment varies according to the different nickel content different. For example. For low-nickel alloys recover, we can use magnetic separator to recycle the alloy particles, and for the recovery of high-nickel alloy, a high-strength magnetic separator or gravity jig separator recovery is required to be used.
Due to the high nickel alloys are very rare, so the gravity separation of nickel-iron alloy is not common. While the most important method of recovering nickel-iron alloy is magnetic separation, using dry magnetic separator with high magnetic field strength for preselection of crushed nickel-iron slag, and most tailings contain no nickel-iron alloy are abandoned, then purify the coarse concentrate to obtain high-purity nickel-iron alloy. So why cann’t it get the final concentrate once? There is a part of nickel-iron alloy that do not completely get monomer dissociation with the waste slag, even some slag has magnetic due to magnetic iron oxide, so it needs further purification treatment.
Under normal circumstances, the coarse magnetic concentrate also need to be grinded by rod mill, then enter jig machine for gravity separation. The capacity of rod mill is three times larger than that of equivalent type ball mill, whih is mainly used to break intergrowth body in the rough concentrate, then enters jigging gravity process for recovering nickel-iron alloy, which can avoid the magnetic separator recycle the slag with magnetic.
Magnetic preselection of dry magnetic separator can not only greatly enhance the capacity, but also decrease the working pressure of the next rod milling and gravity separation, which reduces the production cost and equipment investment.
